Cheap TV Stand
A cheap TV stand does not necessarily need to look cheap. It is
easy for you to make changes to it or decorate it with other things that will change its look. Even if the
television stand you buy is cheap, it doesn’t necessarily have to be made of any foreign material or look cheap;
fixing it should not be hard. When you buy it and before you use it, wipe all the dust from it and cover it with a
good quality water proof varnish. It doesn’t matter what materials it is made off, the varnish will seal and
protect it.
If it is a closed door model, you can buy at the hardware store
metal supports that you can screw on the inside to strengthen the walls and allow you to put a large television set
upon it. When you are looking at the different models available, try to get one that has glass windows in front.
Make sure the back wall is closed, some of the imported pieces do not have a complete wall on the back, and they
only have a piece of card board or plywood covering the part where your DVD player is supposed to go. If the back
is open buy a piece of plywood and nail it in place before varnishing the whole thing.
You can buy a cheap television stand made out of plastic
columns which have divisions made of hard transparent plastic. Polycarbonate plastic specifically, this plastic is
extremely hard and durable, it will not bend either or crack under the weight. Again, before setting up the stand
use a polyurethane varnish to cover the plastic parts, not the transparent supports but the columns. When you buy
them, these are colored in gold or silver, do not buy the gold, and buy the silver because when you apply the
polyurethane varnish it will turn greenish mush in the same color real silver gets with age. Be sure that the stand
is capable of holding your television set’s weight and a little more so there is no stress son the plastic
legs.
Do not buy a small one, by one that fits your television set
with a little room left on each side, the TV may look a bit smaller than it is, but the stand will look larger and
nicer. The polyurethane varnish will have already dried so you can set it all up I the place you have picked.
>The varnish will protect the original finish and will add some real color and the wooden finish that the stand
had originally will look like real wood. You can also set a couple of books inside of it so they will cover
the insides and add some weight to the stand and will also distract attention from the stand
itself.
You do not need to do all this either, there are many cheap
stands that look great and will last a long time when properly cared for. Before putting it together instead of
only using the screws that come in the set, glue the pieces together, it will strengthen the structure and make it
last longer. A little varnish on it will also go a long way too.
